In League of Legends, a player can demote from Platinum 5 by consistently losing games and having their MMR (Match Making Rating) drop below the threshold for Platinum 5. When a player's MMR falls significantly lower than the division they are in, they will start to lose more LP (League Points) for each loss and gain less LP for each win. If their LP reaches 0, they will be demoted to the division below (Gold 1). Additionally, if a player is inactive for a certain period of time, they may also be subject to demotion due to decay. **
